3 days without the kiddies!!! smile

So my hubs and i went to Stowe for 3 days, his idea, couldn't believe it myself when he suggested it. my only fear was that i would have to pump enough breast milk before we left for Madison because she will not drink formula. so i thought i pumped a lot of milk but of course my mom in law was out well before we returned home. but guess what, we tricked her. if you give Madison formula in a bottle she refuses and knows immediately that we are trying to slip her the imitation stuff. so i went and bought a sippy cup with a soft tip before we left on the hunch that maybe we could trick her. i put formula in it and gave it to her with her mid morning breakfast and she drank it!!!!! so luckily i felt comfortable that she wouldn't starve to death before we came home. if you've seen her you know starvation could take a long time.

so while in Stowe we went snowboarding and had fun like you do before you have kids in tow. I love them but you cant exactly take a 6 month old snowboarding, especially if you're not very good at it, like me. ONE set back was i had to continue to pump while we were away. so i was not as free as i expected, here's the vacation pumping sequence:

pumped 2-3 times on the car ride up to Stowe, right when we got to the inn, right before we went to eat, then right when we got home, then at 3 am, ugh that one sucked, then first thing before breakfast, once more before my snowboarding lesson, then lunch, then pump and rush back to snowboard lesson, just made it, rushed back to car to pump before we left mountain while hubs was on his last run, shower and then pump and out to dinner, yum one margarita, back to the inn pump before bed, made it the whole night, pump at five a.m., pump right before i took hubs back to mountain for one last horrah, back to inn breakfast then pump, relax, back up to mountain to grab hubs, back to inn to pack and leave in a snow storm/blizzard. car ride home was much longer than expected, so that was 3-4 times in car.

Ahhh home sweet home!

Thank goodness, because at the inn the freezer was FULL of milk and on the trip home the cooler was FILLED to capacity to milk and some Cabot cheese, not to bring much larger cooler next trip. I underestimated to output of my breasts this trip. I cannot even begin to imagine what a week away would look like.

Tantrums and whatnot

So Lizzy is almost 3 and i am dealing with tantrums for the craziest and silliest things. Friday morning i made a lovely breakfast of homemade waffles and sausage. we told her it was time to eat, she took one look and said i want blueberries! we of course are out of blueberries, but she doesn't understand that, she thinks we just don't want her to have any. no matter how we explain, she just doesn't get it yet. so i offer other things like chocolate and cool whip topped waffles, no good. i suppose she's just a wee bit to young to get it. so 3 hours later we walk into the kitchen and there she is eating her waffles by herself without blueberries.

now this morning we get ready and then i ask if we should have breakfast, she asks for lucky charms. of course we have 8 other kinds golden grahams, no, honey combs, no, trixx, nope, special k, no. tantrum begins with tears and please please please!!!!! here we go, we are out and she just thinks i am holding out on her. but guess what, this tantrum lasted way shorter than yesterdays and she comes to say i don't want a time out, she wants my breakfast. so i think oatmeal? no she wants the special k because she has seen me eating it. so here she is eating her breakfast, special k and a small bowl of pretzels yum!!
